Sugaring - What to expect on the day?

On the day of your sugaring appointment, here’s what you can typically expect:

Pre-Appointment Preparation

Exfoliate Gently: A day or two before your appointment, gently exfoliate the area to remove dead skin cells, which can help reduce the chances of ingrown hairs.

Avoid Lotions and Oils: On the day of your appointment, avoid applying lotions, oils, or creams to the area, as they can interfere with the sugaring process.

Hair Length: Ensure that the hair is long enough for the sugar paste to grip. Ideally, it should be about 1/4 inch long, roughly the length of a grain of rice.

During the Appointment

Cleansing the Area: We will cleanse the area to remove any oils, sweat, or lotions.

Apply Powder: A light dusting of powder may be applied to absorb excess moisture and allow the sugar paste to adhere better to the hair.

Sugaring Application: The sugar paste is applied to the skin against the direction of hair growth and then quickly flicked off in the direction of hair growth. This method is believed to be less painful than waxing since it pulls less on the skin.

Reapplication: The process may be repeated on the same area to ensure all hairs are removed.

Aftercare

Soothing Products: After the sugaring session, the technician may apply a soothing lotion or gel to calm the skin.

Avoid Heat and Sweat: For the first 24 hours after sugaring, it’s best to avoid hot showers, saunas, and intense exercise, as your skin will be more sensitive.

Exfoliation and Moisturization: Regular exfoliation and moisturization can help prevent ingrown hairs and keep your skin smooth.

To be mindful of

Redness and Sensitivity: It’s normal to experience some redness, sensitivity, or minor swelling after sugaring, but these symptoms usually subside within a few hours.

Ingrown Hairs: Proper exfoliation can help minimize the risk of ingrown hairs, a common issue after hair removal treatments.
